choral 'Ode to Man'

This infamous choral does not stand out in the Greek Tragedy play, but is filled with knowledge you may be one to question.

It shows the Concept of Humanity, how wonderful human beings are; using our innovation and creativity to make earthly elements into something, and that something into something else - technology, globalisation, nation-states, etc.; we, humans, can cut flatten mountains, build cities, travel to the moon and back, but the ironic twist of this choral is, that, we can do everything, but nothing at the same time.

Nothing? yes, nothing; we cannot prevent natural disasters from happening, we cannot still foresee our future; we cannot prevent crime from happening; we cannot foresee our death.

This choral, written by Sophocles' in one of his three Theban Plays teach us great value, of humanity, no matter how wonderful and great we, as humans are, we are not everything.

Ask yourself this?

If directors can control what the actors say and do, don't you think that there might be the slightest chance, that we are also being controlled by a 'director' somewhere?

If you can pick and chose which clothes and shoes you want to your doll to wear, don't you think there is a chance, that someone else can do that to you too?

Or your toy soldiers, you line them up and prepare them for war, don't you think there is a possibility, no matter how sight it is, that someone is dictating you like you are to your soldiers?
